Local attorney releases second novel in fantasy series

SPARTA- Local author Lauren D. Fraser held a well-attended gathering at the Mohawk House to launch her most recent book, Queen Makers. This is the second book in her Trinity of Kirana fantasy series. Trinity, which was released in 2012, became a best-seller in its genre on Amazon.com and is currently being worked into a screenplay for a full-length feature film.
“The idea for the first book came to me when I took a creative writing class my senior year of college. Years later, on a rainy day I came back to the idea and it reminded me of the joy of writing,” Fraser said.
The book winds together the tale of 3 teenage sisters who start having the same dream and soon discover they have hidden powers. A mystery ensues as the girls delve into their family history.
“I am the eldest of 3 sisters and have a young daughter of my own. The theme of the book(s) is the importance of family and sticking together. It also has a resounding message for girls about becoming who you are supposed to be in life, following your vision and overcoming the odds,” Fraser said.
The books also have a very scenic, historical background as the 3 sisters find their way to Scotland to discover who they truly are and what they are destined to do in the mystical Kingdom of Kirana.
“I had taken a trip to Scotland right around the time I was starting to write again and was so blown away by its beauty and historical significance," the author said. "I have always been interested in the history of Scotland and England and really tried to incorporate that in the story as well.”
Fraser is a personal injury attorney at Laddey, Clark and Ryan specializing in helping people with permanent spinal injuries. She is a busy mom to daughter Anna Elizabeth, 5, who enjoys dancing, singing and playing the piano.
“I wanted to have the launch party to specifically thank my family and friends for all of their amazing support," she said. "But I will be doing book signings later this summer at Sparta Books and Broad Street Books in Branchville. Both of these stores have been very supportive of me as a local author."
Fraser will be at Sparta Books on Thursday, August 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. signing copies of both Trinity and Queen Makers.
The books can be purchased in-store as well as on Amazon.com in print and Kindle versions. For more information on Lauren D. Fraser and the Trinity of Kirana series, visit www.laurendfraser.com
