— Sparta High School senior Erin Beebe has been accepted to participate in the Volunteer For Peace Project in Burlington, Vermont.

Beebe along with nine other volunteers from around the world will be participating in the Gardens and Parks program from July 7th through July 25th.

Volunteers for Peace is a US nonprofit organization that promotes international voluntary service as an effective means of intercultural education, service learning and community development.

Beebe's study theme is Conservation, Preservation and Maintenance. She will be staying at the Alliance Church Teen Center.

Her projects will include working in the community garden program, trail maintenance, invasive species removal, and special events support. She will also be helping with the harvesting and have the opportunity to work at the local food event called Summervale.

Volunteers For Peace is an opportunity to build cultural understandings and connections around the world while exploring leadership opportunities and developing relevant life skills and knowledge.
