Local Scouts recognize members
Boy Scout Troop 82 host special event
SPARTA — On Monday June 9, Sparta Boy Scout Troop 82 held a Court of Honor to recognize the achievements of their members.
Th special event was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Sparta.
Eight scouts were promoted in rank and many were presented with merit badges.
Mitchell Morrison, of the Sparta Historical Society, presented Michael Traina with a plaque to recognize his Eagle Scout project to enlarge the Sparta Community Garden. Morrison thanked all of the scouts who participated in that event, noting their hard work and community spirit.
Troop 82 scouts, their parents and siblings are going on a family camping trip with rafting on the Delaware River. Over the summer, Troop 82 will stay at Camp Yawgoog in Rhode Island for their annual camping week.
The Troop will resume their Monday night meetings in September, which are held at the First Presbyterian Church in Sparta during the school year.
