— Two juveniles and one adult were arrested Saturday, June 28, after police say the group attempted to steal a car belonging to an off-duty Sussex County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to the Andover Township Police Department, The suspects had run away from the Willow Glen Academy just before the attempted theft.

The three located the vehicle on St. Paul’s Abbey property shortly after leaving the campus, according to investigators.

The deputy called police to report the break-in. When patrols arrived, two of the suspects who initially ran from the scene turned themselves in to police. The third suspect continued on foot and was eventually taken into custody after officers from Andover, the Newton Police Department and the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit found him nearby.

Jamar T. Justice, 18, was charged with conspiracy to commit theft. The two juveniles, who are not being identified because of their age, are facing attempted theft charges.

Justice has a court date scheduled in Sussex County Superior Court while the two juveniles will be tried in juvenile court.

All three were released back to the custody of Willow Glen Academy.
