— Veritas Christian Academy (Sparta) defeated Wallkill Valley Regional High School (Hamburg) in girls varsity basketball on Thursday, January 26. The final score was 47-41. The game took place at Wallkill Valley Regional High School.

Veritas Christian stays undefeated thus far this season with their latest win.

Karlea Zazopoulos propelled the Veritas Lions comeback win by scoring a game-high 19 points. Brenley Knakkergaard contributed 11 points for Veritas Christian.

Trailing 18-17 at halftime, Veritas Christian outscored Wallkill Valley 18-9 in the third period to take a 35-27 lead into the fourth period.

Patricia Stecher scored 12 points for the Wallkill Valley Rangers. Teammate Jamie Struble contributed 10 points.

Team records: Veritas Lions 16-0. Wallkill Valley Rangers 2-13.
