Sussex — Cornerstone Playhouse will present A.R. Gurney’s "Love Letters" on Saturday, Feb. 18. This Broadway hit and Pulitzer Prize-nominated play is both exhilarating and funny.
A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters" is a play that tells the story of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, two affluent East Coasters who meet in the second grade and communicate through letters and postcards over more than 50 years.
The audience will have no trouble getting to know Ladd and Gardner intimately from their strict WASP upbringing, through later life political aspirations, love affairs and ambitions.
The story carries the characters through grade school, college and middle age, marriage and divorce, dreams and disappointments, success and failure.
It is ultimately the tale of unrequited love between two soul mates. This two-character play stars Jim Berkheiser of Vernon and Dianne Pollett of Middleville. Anne Wheeler of Sparta is directing the classic.
Cornerstone Playhouse will present A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters at 7 p.m. on Feb. 18 on the main stage. Tickets are $15 per person.
