Team Tobin romps in summer basketball

They beat Van Skiver and remain undefeated

— Team Tobin (blue) defeated Team Van Skiver in basketball on Monday, July 10. The final score was 115-73. The Sparta Summer Basketball League game took place at The House of Sports in Sparta.

The regular season for the Sparta Summer Basketball League is almost over. The league's playoffs are scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 13. The league is comprised of ten teams. The teams names are taken from the last name of each captain.

So far this season Team Tobin has managed to stay unbeaten. Team Tobin's record is 9-0. If they continue their winning ways the squad will become the first team in the Sparta Summer Basketball League's history to go undefeated in a season, according to league commissioner Charlie Collver.

The Sparta Summer Basketball League has some of the top college level and former high school standout players from Sussex County and the region. Brothers Mike and Matt Tobin were both stellar athletes at Hopatcong High School. Matt Tobin is the captain of Team Tobin and a graduate of East Stroudsburg University.
