Booster Club's Nov. 17 Beefsteak Dinner to benefit Pope John High School special programs

    The Pope John High School Booster Club announced dynamic husband and wife duo Emily Bienko-Brown a Pope John High School alumna and track and field record holder, and Bobby Brown, former NFL player for the Cleveland Browns, as headliners for its 2017 Beefsteak Dinner, Auction and Tricky Tray being held Saturday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at Pope John XXIII Regional High School, 28 Andover Road, Sparta.
    The evening kicks off with a Brownstone-catered beefsteak dinner with unlimited wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by Bienko-Brown and Brown speaking, then the tricky tray drawings and live auction. Tickets cost $60. through Nov. 1, and $70. starting Nov. 2.     Pope John Booster Club President Maureen Myles says, “Ticket purchases help offset rising costs of keeping extracurricular activities an integral part of our children’s education, from drama club to robotics teams to the entire spectrum of sports programs. With these programs, children learn teamwork, cooperation and social skills---and may discover a new passion! Besides our Pope John students, local recreational teams also have access to our fields and courts.”
    Emily Bienko Brown graduated from Pope John High School in 1996, Notre Dame in 2000 and Notre Dame Law School in 2003. While at Pope John she was a 12-varsity letter winner in track and field, soccer, basketball and cross country. She still holds the school record in the 100 hurdles, long jump, heptathlon and overall points. Currently, Emily is Trademark Counsel for Honeywell International. A mother of two sons, she and Bobby live in South Orange, New Jersey.
    Bobby Brown graduated from Notre Dame in 1999, Notre Dame Law School in 2006, and Yale Business School Class in 2010. At Notre Dame he was a two-sport athlete in football and track. He was one of the leading wide receivers and a 400 meter record holder in track and field. Brown formerly played for the NFL Cleveland Browns. He is currently working in the field of finance and has recently branched out into broadcasting.
