Collier brings charm, passion and saxophone
Stanhope House, this Friday, August 17

Vanessa Collier

STANHOPE — Vanessa Collier will bring her special blend of charm, compassion and fire to the Stanhope House stage on Friday Aug. 17.
The 27-year old multi-talented blues performer who sings and plays the saxophone with equal equally high energy has become one of those in-demand artists throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. Collier is one of those rare artists who combines the package into a show: charismatic charm, passionate and fiery performances, soulful voice, searing saxophone solos, and witty songwriting.
A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Collier's alluring vocals and stinging saxophone work saw her light up stages as part of Joe Louis Walker’s band (2012-2013), while her 2014 debut album Heart Soul & Saxophone was declared “magnificent” on Dan Aykroyd’s blues radio show, winning her accolades as Best of 2014 Blues Breaker. In 2017, Collier continued her success with the release of her sophomore album Meeting My Shadow, earning many prestigious honors and awards along the way.
The featured opener for Collier will be Katie Henry of Vernon, whose making fast tracks herself. Among Henry's personal favorite artists are legends like Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Jerry Garcia, John Lennon, and Ruthie Foster.
"I grew up listening to rock n roll and soul music, and became inspired at a young age to play. I am lucky to have grown up in a music loving family, and would love to continue to create my own music loving family at my shows," said Henry, who recently appeared at the Black Potatoe Festival.
Two other acts are scheduled to appear at the Aug. 17 show: Sean Tobin and Magic Gravity.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. The Stanhope House, located on Main Street in Stanhope, offers entertainment several days a week, from comedy to blues to tribute and heavy metal bands.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with music starting at 7 p.m. with opening acts. For tickets and other information about this show and others at The Stanhope House, go to www.stanhopehousenj.com.
