Health system exec honored by Boy Scouts

Atlantic Health System’s Western Region President, Joe DiPaolo, has been recognized by The Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council with the 37th Annual Distinguished Citizen Award. He will be honored on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Perona Farms in Andover for serving as exemplary role model for the youth of our area. The award dinner chairs are Mark Avondoglio, Owner, Perona Farms and Robert E. McCracken, Owner/Manager N.J. Lic.No.3640, Smith-McCracken Funeral Home.
As president for Atlantic Health System's Western Region, DiPaolo is directly responsible for overseeing all operations within the region and ensuring the quality, safety, and financial integrity of the hospitals and their ambulatory operations. The two hospitals within the region include Newton and Hackettstown Medical Centers. Newton Medical Center is a 148 bed acute care hospital in Sussex County, NJ; and, Hackettstown Medical Center is a 111 bed acute care hospital in Warren County, NJ.
In his time with Atlantic Health System, DiPaolo has held several senior hospital operations and corporate roles, including system wide leadership of AHS' Supply Chain and Orthopedic Service Line. He continues to serve as a corporate VP with ongoing shared service department responsibilities across the system's hospitals.
Prior to joining Atlantic, he spent nine years with the hospital supply divisions of Baxter, Allegiance and Cardinal Health; international manufacturers and distributors of Medical, Surgical, Laboratory, and Pharmaceutical products. DiPaolo started his career in information systems as a computer programmer and systems analyst with McDonnell Douglas.
He holds bachelor and master’s degrees in business administration from George Washington and Fordham Universities; and, is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is an officer of Atlantic Health System and serves on the Board of the New Jersey Hospital Association and several other boards.
Through the Sussex County 37th Annual Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner, funds will be raised to support the mission of the Boy Scouts of America in Sussex County, that is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
For his outstanding example to youth in the community, the Boy Scouts of America salutes Joseph DiPaolo with the 37th Annual Sussex County Distinguished Citizen Award.
