— Sparta High School defeated West Morris Central High School (Morris County, N.J.) in varsity football on Saturday September 15, 2018. The final score was 16-7. The game took place at Sparta High School in Sparta.

Austin Castorina rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown for Sparta. Quarterback Kenny Oelkers rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown. Linebackers Sam Bushey and Jhordin Griffin achieved two sacks apiece.

Anthony Ruggiero scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 8:34 left in the third quarter for West Morris Central. Quarterback and kicker Joey Spano successfully executed the extra point kick.

Team records: Sparta Spartans 2-1. West Morris Central Wolfpack 1-1.
