— Sparta High School has announced the second induction class of the Sparta High School Athletic Hall of Fame, which was founded in 2016.

The inductees are:

Ted Barbato - Athletic Director/Coach

Helene Reigstad Geissel - Girls Basketball

Ryan McGowan - Soccer

Dave Boutilier - Soccer

Ed Fulton - Football

1968 Football Team

Kevin Michaels - Football, Wrestling, Track

Jimmy Wright - Football, Basketball, Baseball

Tommy Wright - Football, Basketball, Track

The 2nd annual induction ceremony will take place on October 4, 2018 at Skyview Golf Club in Sparta at 6 pm. For ticket information, please email Tim Librizzi at

The Sparta High School Athletic Hall of Fame preserves the tradition of Sparta High School athletic programs by honoring those who have made a significant contribution to Sparta Athletics.

For induction, members of the Athletic Hall of Fame may have contributed to Sparta Athletics as an Athlete, Team, Coach or Contributor, such as Community Member, Trainer, Administrator, BOE Member, etc. Athletes and Teams become eligible for induction 10 years upon graduating from SHS.

Sparta alumni, coaches and community members must be nominated to be considered for induction. All nomination and donation forms can be found under the Hall of Fame link on the Sparta High School Athletics webpage at
