Historical Society to display 100 vintage cars

SPARTA--Sparta Historical Society invites all to check out vintage cars that will be on display as part of its third car show. While last year’s theme was “Fabulous Four Doors”, this year’s theme is in memorial of Bill Ashley, a dear friend and co-founder of our society’s car show.
his car show will take place 11 a.m. – 3p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 in the parking lot of Sparta Middle School at 336 Main Street. Admission is free and food will be available for purchase. New this year is live music
There will be about 100 antique and classic cars at the show. Although no judging or trophies will be given away, the popular “People’s Choice” award will be back for attendees to vote for their favorite auto.
The Van Kirk Homestead Museum will also be open for those who wish to visit its fall exhibit called “Traditions of the Black Forest” with a 2 p.m. talk. Sparta Historical Society pays homage to the cultural influences from the Black Forest of Germany and Austria. This exhibit explores architecture, cuckoo clocks, meerschaum pipes, magnificant carved plaques and other traditional arts see in the early days of Lake Mohawk and other German communities throughout the area.
The Sparta Historical Society is located at The Van Kirk Homestead Museum at 336 Main Street (Rt. 517, use Middle School Driveway), Sparta. It will be open second and fourth Sunday, Nov. 11th , Nov. 25th and closing Sunday, Dec. 9th with the Homestead all dressed up for the holidays.
