Normal Ennis-Giarth dies at age 82

Ennis-Giarth, Norma A., (nee Hood) age 82, of Branchville, NJ, and formerly of Sarasota, Florida, and Cambridge, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018.

Raised in Kearny and Belleville, NJ, Norma was a graduate of Belleville High School and attended Rutgers University, Newark. She was a secretary for most of her working life and served as the Guidance Secretary at High Point Regional High School in the 1980s where she was known as Mrs. Ennis. Norma was a gifted artist and a lifelong animal lover. She enjoyed choral singing, reading, and cooking and crafting with her beloved grandchildren.

Norma was the daughter of Sally Farrell Hood and Norman Stewart Hood. She is survived by four daughters, Karen Carpenter (Bruce) of Sarasota, FL, Jacqueline Sutton-Soobryan (Paul) of Branchville, NJ, Teresa Headwell of Cambridge, NY, and Christina Gebbia of Pawleys Island, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Devin and Shawn Skelly and Vivian, Michael and Karen Soto and Molly, Brooke Sutton, Megan, Autumn and Anna Headwell and Alexandra, Rowan, Ryan and Guy Gebbia.

There is no formal service planned for Norma as she chose to make an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College.

Donations in Norma’s honor may be made to Father John’s Animal House, 50 Father John’s Lane, Lafayette, NJ 07848.
