Sparta High School defeated Tenafly High School(Bergen County) in boys varsity basketball on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019. The final score was 57-52. The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Tournament, Quarterfinal, North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 took place at Sparta High School in Sparta.

Alex Podolski scored a game-high 18 points for Sparta. Senior forward Jack Cavanaugh contributed 13 points and in the process also scored his 1,000th point.

Johnny Angbazo and Eric Berschadsky scored 13 points apiece for Tenafly. Alon Aboodi scored 12 points.
