Youth events at Sparta Public Library
The Sparta Public Library has several events planned for youth to enjoy throughout the month of March. Events include:
Family Movie: Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse Friday, 3/22 at 5:30 p.m.
Come see the movie that everyone's been talking about. The Sparta Public Library is showing the Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature, Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. The movie is rated PG. Popcorn will be served. Feel free to bring any extra snacks/drinks along to enjoy. Note: This program is being held after hours, so plan to enter and exit through the downstairs door. The door will open approximately 15 minutes before show time. NJ Makers Day 2019Saturday, 3/23
Makers Day is Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be ongoing drop-in activities throughout the day, including; 3D Printer & Virtual Reality (Makersspace Area). Try virtual reality games. 3D Pens & Button Maker (Fireplace area). Robotics Team Demo (Back Room, Lower Level) - See the NJ State Champion robot and meet Intensity team members from Sparta High School before they head to the World Championships in Kentucky. Additional activities: 10-11 a.m. - DIY Bouncy Balls (Storytime Room). Make your own bouncy ball. 11 a.m. to noon - Cupcake Decorating (Storytime Room). Noon- 2 p.m. Make a Robot Mask. Events are for all ages and no registration is required.
Reading to Tucker the Dog Sunday, 3/24 from 2-3:30 p.m.:
Grab a book and read aloud to Tucker, the dog, and his friend. Tucker the therapy dog is back at the library with Kris Drew and second therapy team from Creature Comforts. Bring a book from home, or borrow one of the library's books, and practice reading aloud to the dogs. Perfect for emerging readers and anyone who needs to practice reading out loud. Book talk with Valerie Munro, author of NagwanisSaturday, 3/30
Valerie Munro discusses her new book, Journey to Nagwanis. Find out how the sights and creatures of Lake Mohawk inspired this middle grade fantasy adventure. Light refreshments will be served. Valerie is raffling off a bundle of both books in the series during the event. Copies of the book will be available for purchase for $10.
