Toni Chaplin exhibition at George Segale Studios

A long time resident of Sparta, Toni Chaplin has been painting since she was very young.
Toni became passionate about being an artist and dreamed of spending her life painting and exhibiting her work. She has shown her work in both solo and group exhibitions and galleries. Her work is represented in many public and private collections, some as a result of commissions. While mostly self-taught, she has had wonderful mentors including Arleta Peach, Ed Havas, Bill Senior, John Salimnem Robert Barridg & Sterling Edwards.
Toni works primarily in watercolors & acrylics and enjoys experimenting with different techniques. The beauty of nature and our surroundings is what influences her the most.
Toni currently teaches watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, and pen & ink for sparta parks & recreation, The Joe Kubert Arh School, and Blairstown Library. She has been an instructor of Watercolor for Road Scholar, at the Shawnee Inn, Shawnee, on the Delaware, PA. As an elected Member of New Jersey Watercolor Society, she will serve as their First Vice President for 2018-2020.
Toni Is also a member of Essex Watercolor Club, as well as the Art Association of Roxbury, and the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council. She has been on the Art in Sussex County Committee with the New Jersey State Fair for 35 Years. As a responsible artist, she has donated paintings to raise money for the United Way, Karen Ann Quinlan Memorial Foundation, Big Brothers & Big Sisters of america, Kiwanis, as well as many other worldwide causes.
Toni Chaplin’s work is currently on display at 10 White Deer Plaza, for the month of June, 2019 at George Segale Studios, 10 Whte Deer Plaza, Sparta, NJ with an artist reception Thursday June 13, from 6pm to 10 p.m.
It is worth note that Toni was George Segale’s Neighbor in the early 1980s. At 7 years old, George’s mother asked her neighbor Toni If “little George” could come over and “draw” with her to see if he had artistic talent. Later that day, Toni reported back that he “had what it takes.” In a full circle situation, Toni is now showing at her young neighbor’s accomplished art studio more than 30 years later. This is a special show for George at the gallery, and he hopes the community will support his “first favorite artist” so many years later.
