Sparta Historical Society holds 4th annual Classic Car Show

Sparta Historical Society invites the public to check out vintage cars that will be on display as part of its fourth car show. This year’s theme is “Classic Convertibles." The car show will take place 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019 in the parking lot of Sparta Middle School at 336 Main Street. Admission is free and food will be available for purchase. There will also be live music.

There will be about 100 antique and classic cars at the show. Although no judging or trophies will be given away, the popular “People’s Choice” award will be back for attendees to vote for their favorite auto. The car show is sponsored by Jim’s Automotive in Lafayette, DiMarco’s Barbershop in Lake Hopatcong, and Douglas Electrical Components in Randolph.

The Van Kirk Homestead Museum will also be open for those who wish to visit its fall exhibit called “NJ Glass: Earth, Wind and Fire”. On loan from the Museum of America Glass will be a portion of their NJ Historical Glass Collection as well as modern art statements from NJ artists. Glassware in America started in New Jersey and remains there today.

The Sparta Historical Society is located at The Van Kirk Homestead Museum at 336 Main Street (Rte. 517, use Middle School Driveway), Sparta. It will be open second and fourth Sunday, October 27th, November 10th, Nov. 24 and closing Sunday, Dec.8 with the Homestead decorated for the holidays.
