Mary and Arthur Elwell celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Mary (Bopp) and Arthur Elwell recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with their children and friends on Jan. 27, 2019, at the Mohawk House in Sparta. Another, larger celebration for extended family is planned in April, when the weather is kinder.
Mary was born in the Bronx, New York, and Arthur was born in Staten Island, New York. When they met in October, 1968 at New York University, it was love at first sight, and they married in January, 1969.
The couple moved to Green Township in 1976 when they purchased the Carriage House Canine Inn, which Mary operated until 1984. During this time, they became legal guardians of 2 teenage girls, Kim and Robin. Mary and Art also became the proud parents of their daughter, Elizabeth.
After selling the kennel, the couple built a home in Green, where they presently reside. Art continued to work as a Computer Engineer and Mary became a Medical Office Manager. They welcomed their son, Arthur, in 1990.
Mary and Art are both now retired and enjoy doing lots of home projects and taking the occasional trip.
