Charles B. (‘Thor’) Selden

Charles B. (“Thor”) Selden of Franklin, N.J., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 24, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was 53.

Born to Paul and Margery Selden in Naperville, Ill., he had lived in Maplewood, N.J., before moving to Franklin in 1999.

Thor was a graduate of Upsala College and worked for 12 years as the senior marketing consultant for Clear Channel Communications in Franklin, where he also created and voiced many of the commercials on the radio and then co-owned and operated the Sigar Tobacco Store in Newfoundland, N.J. Thor was a very involved father and parent. He managed, coached and announced for the Wallkill Valley Little League, coached and announced for the Wallkill Valley Youth Football League and announced for the New Jersey Stags Football team. Thor was also a reliable volunteer for all the sports leagues he was involved with and his presence at the fields will be greatly missed.

He is the beloved husband of Cheryl Selden( nee Beyer) of Franklin; devoted father of Thor Selden, at home, USN MM3 Gunnar Selden and his wife, Lindsey, of San Diego, Calif., Magnus, Leif, and Haakon Selden, all at home; cherished son of Margery Selden of Portage, Mich.; dear brother of Paul Selden of Portage, Mich., Margery Johnson of Denver, Colo., and Hal Selden of Aurora, Colo.

Thor is predeceased by his father, Paul Selden.

Private cremation services by F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin, N.J. Visitation was scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, and the Franklin Fire House, 137 Buckwheat Road, Franklin. Memorial services are to be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at the fire house.
