Harold T Greenfield, 81, of Sparta, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 28, 2019.

Harold was born in the Bronx, NY to Mary & Harold Greenfield on Jan. 17, 1938. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1957 where he served both active and reserve duty before his honorable discharge as Corporal in 1963. Harold served proudly as a NYPD police officer in both the 69th and 78th precincts for 20 years as a patrolman and detective. He married his beautiful wife Patricia Devine in 1969 with whom he started his family in Brooklyn, NY. After his retirement from the NYPD, Harold moved his family to Sparta, NJ in 1983. He went on to work for the United Parcel Service in loss prevention for another 20+ years before his second well-deserved retirement.

“Harry” was a loyal Mets fan and enjoyed attending spring training sessions in Port St Lucie for many years. He cherished his countless friendships formed throughout his lifetime, and especially loved the camaraderie he shared at the Village Saloon and Sparta Lanes. Harold took great pride in the accomplishments of all his children just as his family took great pride in his. His presence will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Greenfield, his sons Christopher and Ryan Greenfield, daughter Jaime Corbett, grandchildren Patrick, Lauren, and Kellan, sister MaryAnn Zahner, brother-in-law Herb Zahner, sister-in-laws Rita, Terry, Marie and so many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews who adored him.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 s.m.at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871.

A funeral mass will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Saint Kateri Church in Sparta, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Harold’s honor to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.
