James Francis Doran Jr. of Sparta, N.J., passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, N.J., surrounded by his loving family. He was 77. He went home to the Lord after a lengthy and courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
He was the beloved son of the late James Doran and Loretta Lohmeyer Doran. He spent his childhood in Jersey City, N.J., and then Paramus, N.J., before moving to Sparta, where he has lived for the last 45 years with his family.
James graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, N.J., in 1964 with a bachelor degree in finance. He had a lengthy career in banking and retired a senior vice president from Yardville National Bank in 2005. James was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Fontana Doran; his beloved children, Laura and Jimmy; his son-in-law, John; the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Jessica and Jack; his sister-in-law, Sue; brother Timothy Doran; and sister, Maureen Perusse.
He was predeceased by his brother Kevin Doran.

Friends are invited to celebrate his life from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A memorial mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at St. Thomas of Aquin Church, 53 Kennedy Avenue, Ogdensburg, N.J.
