Marie C. McCurry

Marie C. McCurry of Wantage, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at Newton Medical Center. She was 73.

Marie was born on Aug. 18, 1948, in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands, to Herman and Maria C. VanNieuwland. Marie came to the United States at the age of seven and settled in Paterson, N.J. She was a lifelong resident of Sussex County.

Marie was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing and ceramics. She was also an entrepreneur, owned two businesses, and held several managerial positions with local retail companies.

Marie is survived by her husband, John McCurry; her sons, Andrew McCurry (Donna) and Timothy McCurry; her brothers, Herman VanNieuwland, Martin VanNieuwland and John VanNieuwland; her granddaughters, Allison McCurry and Mattison McCurry and her grandsons, Kyle McCurry and Patrick McCurry.

Visitation was held Nov. 23 at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton, N.J. Funeral services were to be held Nov. 24 at the funeral home, with interment to follow in the North Hardyston Cemetery.
