Mary Ann Buckley of Newton, N.J., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Bristol Glen Senior Living Center in Newton. She was 98.

Daughter of late Joseph and Gema (Ghilardi) Vatalaro, she was born in Berwick, Pa., on Oct. 10, 1922.

Mrs. Buckley had lived in West Milford, N.J., for 15 years, where she was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hewitt, N.J., since 2002. She moved to Sussex County in 2017 and had attended St. Monica Roman Catholic Church in Sussex, N.J., and St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Newton.

Mrs. Buckley was a former member of St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Fair Lawn, N.J., for 53 years and served as an usher and alter server. She was a 50-year member of St. Anne’s Rosary Society, member of St. Anne’s Senior Club, member of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post 281 of Fair Lawn, and a member of the Fair Lawn Livewires. Mrs. Buckley was a production accounting clerk for 15 years at Nabisco before retiring in 1985.

She was predeceased by her husband, John P. Buckley, on July 19, 1992; her brother, Joseph Vatalaro Jr. and his wife, Theresa; and her sisters-in-law, Camille Vatalaro and Anne Attenborough.

She is survived by her brother, Arthur “Albert” Vatalaro; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held privately for the family with interment services at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, N.J. Funeral arrangements were made by the Pinkel Funeral Home, Sussex, N.J.
