Mary Kathryn McChesney Luba passed peacefully at home into eternal life on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, after a brave battle with breast cancer. She was 75.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to so many. She will live forever in our hearts.

Mary Kay grew up in Ridgefield Park, N.J., and Sparta, N.J., and was a resident for over 50 years of Byram Township, N.J., where she and her husband raised their four children. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church and a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake High School (Pope John XXIII) in Sparta.

She began her working career as a secretary for the law firm of McGovern and Roseman, Newton N.J., and later worked for more than 25 years as office manager of Pediatric Associates in Newton, N.J.

Mary Kay is survived by her son, Robert, and his wife, Melissa, of Sparta; daughters, Margaret and her husband, William McCollum, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Kathryn and her husband, Josue Rosario, of Sparta, and Rachael and her husband, Kevin Walsh, of Alpharetta, Ga.; grandchildren, Brittany, Andrew, Evan and William Luba, Conor, Shane and Terence McCollum, Alexander Rosario, Kevin, Daniel and Kelly Walsh; brothers, James McChesney and wife, Sylvia, of Conway, S.C., Dennis McChesney of Sarasota, Fla., John McChesney and wife, Kate, of Sparta, Tom McChesney and wife, Sherry, of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; and sisters, Patricia McGuire of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jody Morrell and husband, Allen, of Savannah, Ga., Louise McChesney of Branchville, N.J., Peggy Walsh of Sparta, and Theresa Concannon and husband, Patrick, of Breezy Point, N.Y.

She is predeceased by her parents, Louis Francis and Kathryn McChesney; her husband of 55 years, Robert A. Luba Sr.; as well as brothers William, Francis, and Gordon McChesney.

An announcement will be forthcoming for a funeral mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta. Interment at Sparta Cemetery and repast will be held in the spring.
