William (“Bill”) Lewis, Demarest Sr. of Sussex, N.J., passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021. He was 74.

Born to Charles and Ina Demarest in Franklin, N.J., he has been a lifelong resident of Sussex.

Bill graduated from Sussex High School in 1965 and then served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and then worked as an assembler for Westwood Fence, which later became Tri-State Fence Company in Wantage Township, N.J., Where he worked for 48 years, retiring in 2011.

Bill is predeceased by a sister, Judy Demarest

He is the beloved husband for 54 years of Mary Ann Demarest (nee Hallowich) of Sussex; devoted father of William L. Demarest Jr. of Newton, N.J., Daniel Demarest of Wantage Township and Brian Demarest and his wife, Tracy, of Sussex; loving grandfather of Victor Demarest of Kentucky, Andrew Demarest of Newton, Skye Lynn Geving of Pennsylvania, Brian Demarest Jr., Victoria, Ethan, Derek, Zachary and Matthew Demarest, all of Sussex; and dear brother of Edward Demarest of New Jersey and Charles Demarest of Pennsylvania.

Private cremation services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home, Sussex.
