    Open Space vacancy

Any Byram resident interested in serving on the Open Space Committee should contact Township Clerk Doris Flynn at dflynn@byramtwp.org. The Open Space Committee is charged with implementation and stewardship of the town’s Open Space plan, including outreach, funding, and oversight.

The committee meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd Monday of every other month, at the municipal building.

Candidates are sought for November election

Any adult Byram resident wishing to run for Township Council may pick up a candidate packet at the municipal building during regular business hours. Petitions are due no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sep 3, 2019. The election will be held on Tuesday, Nov 5, 2019 and will fill three seats on the council for four-years terms running from Jan. 1, 2020 through Dec 31, 2023.

    Parks and Recreation update

The council and administration would like to thank everyone who participated in the Parks and Recreation Survey over the last few months. The survey is now closed, and the data will be used towards crafting the new Parks and Recreation plan and updated Open Space plan. More public input and informational meetings will also be held, at dates to be determined.

    Cancer awareness

Mayor Alex Rubenstein read and signed a proclamation on behalf of himself and the Township Council declaring September to be Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Byram.

The proclamation encourages all residents to "go gold" in support of finding a cure for childhood cancer, which is the leading cause of disease-related death for American youth.

    June Dobson Scholarship

The Historical Society presented its June Dobson Scholarship Award to Ian Hill on Tuesday, Aug 13, 2019 at the Roseville Schoolhouse Museum. The $1,000 scholarship is given annually to honor the memory of Dobson, lifelong educator and founding member of the Byram Historical Society.
