Students at Hilltop Country Day School in Sparta are participating in “My Playground,” the 2023 annual art conversation project started last year by the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA).

The discussion is about seeing the world as a giant playground. Students visualized having the power to build a playground. They reflected on things they loved the most and expressed the ideas in a mixed-media piece.

The theme was suggested at the NAWA’s discussion about what artists can do to help the younger generation to create a brighter future.

The Hilltop art instructor is membership chairwoman of NAWA.

Students in grades 2-8 are participating in the art show. They made a fun mixed-media portrait and wrote a poem describing their magical place.

NAWA is the first professional women artists association in the United States.
