Hopatcong Women’s Club upcoming programs and activities

HOPATCONG — The Hopatcong Women’s Club annual Fashion Show, now in its seventh year, has fast become a ritual for women of the Hopatcong and surrounding areas.

To be held this year on Sunday, April 21 at the Ridgewood Restaurant, 35 Brooklyn Stanhope Road, from 1 to 4 p.m., the show will feature clothing fashions from Coldwater Creek, a silent auction, a 50/50 and door prizes.

A hot buffet lunch will be served, along with coffee and dessert.

Proceeds benefit the Hopatcong Women’s Club charitable donations, which have in the past included DASI (Domestic Abuse), Scholarships, Head Start, Gilda’s Club, Family Promise, and many more.

Benefit dinner
Family Promise of Sussex County is holding its annual dinner and auction on Saturday, March 23, at the Lake Mohawk Golf Club in Sparta. The Hopatcong Women’s Club is a supporter of this event, and Karen Giordano and Kris Peterson are the co-Chairpersons of this effort. The evening will begin at 6: 30 p.m. with a silent auction, cocktail hour and seated dinner. Highlights will include a live auction featuring vacation getaways, restaurant dine-arounds, gift baskets and event tickets.

All proceeds benefit Family Promise, a non-profit organization created in 1998 in response to the growing number of homeless families in Sussex County, New Jersey.

Caregiver talk
The Hopatcong Women’s Club will feature a short program following its March 20 regular membership meeting by Preferred Care at Home, presented by its owners, George and Jill Malanga, as well as Kathleen Whelan Perlett, director of Caregivers and Community Relations. Scholarship
The Hopatcong Women’s Club is offering a Career Development Award in the amount of $500 to a female Hopatcong resident who is planning to return to school. The recipient must be 25 years or older.

Public invited to join
The Hopatcong Women’s Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month (except Jan, June July and Aug.) at the Hopatcong Senior Center on Lakeside Blvd. at 10:30 a.m., followed by a casual luncheon. May and September meetings are typically at a local restaurant.
