Motorists may need to leave themselves extra time as the Route 15 overpass at Main Street in Sparta is going to have repair work done starting this week, The work will consist of two stages to fix damage due to oversized vehicles. The $4.09-million in repairs includes replacing beams, resurfacing, and lane closures. It's anticipated that the project will be completed in November 2020.
The construction will take place at the overpass due to a determination that the Route 15 north and southbound bridges are deteriorating. The project was awarded on April 30, received notice to proceed on June 3, and construction has an estimated completion date of Nov. 9, 2020, at a cost of $4.09 million. The Transportation Department states that the project will consist of two stages, with a few sub-stages, and will include lane closures.
According to the Transportation Department's statement, "the ramp onto 15 SB from CR 517 will be changed from a yield condition to a stop condition for the duration of the project." For more information visit: ttps://spartanj.org/2019/07/25/overpass-construction/
