    DRIVER INVOLVED IN DOMESTIC DISPUTE ARRESTED FOR DWI

    On 12/16/2019 at approximately midnight, Sparta Patrols were alerted to be on the lookout for a silver Hyundai Elantra that was just involved in a domestic dispute in Ogdensburg. P.O. Arlene Lippencott observed the vehicle and stopped it at the Sparta Junction. She approached the vehicle and met with the driver, 35 yr old Wendy Mittelstadt of Landing, NJ. Officer Lippencott suspected that Ms. Mittelstadt had been consuming alcoholic beverages and asked her to perform Field Sobriety tests. Upon completion of testing, she was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Sparta Police HQ for processing. Upon completion of breath testing, Ms. Mittelstadt was charged with: DWI and Careless Driving and released to a sober adult.

    DRIVER OF HIT AND RUN VEHICLE ARRESTED

    On 12/16/2019 at approximately 4:30 pm, Sparta Dispatch received a call of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Woodport Rd and Blue Heron. Caller reported that the vehicle, a bright yellow Hyundai, that had caused the accident had fled the scene. P.O. Matt Pletcher was responding to the scene when he observed a yellow Hyundai, with significant damage to the front end, travelling on Main St towards Glen Rd. Officer Pletcher stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, 58 yr old Anthony Rosario of Hardyston, NJ, and observed him to be intoxicated. When Officer Pletcher asked Mr. Rosario if he was just involved in an accident, he replied “I think so”. After completion of Field Sobriety tests, Mr. Rosario was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Sparta Police HQ for processing. After breath testing was conducted, Mr. Rosario was charged with: DWI, Careless Driving, Failure to Report an Accident, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failing to Keep Right. He was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released to a sober adult.
