    VEHICLE STOPPED AT GREEN LIGHT; DRIVER ARRESTED FOR DWI

    On 11/08/2019 at approximately 10 pm, P.O. Brian Porter was travelling north on Rt. 15, when he observed a white BMW, stopped in the roadway, at a green light at the intersection of Houses Corner Road and Rt. 15. The vehicle began to travel north on Rt. 15 and Officer Porter followed it, before stopping it. He approached the driver’s window and met with the driver, 42 yr old Maria Cerino of Belleville, NJ, and asked her for her credentials. Officer Porter detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Ms. Cerino’s breath as she spoke. When asked about the odor, Ms. Cerino stated she had two Corona beers before leaving her house. Ms. Cerino was asked to perform Field Sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DWI upon completion of the tests. She was transported to Sparta Police HQ to be processed. After completion of breath testing paperwork, Ms. Cerino was charged with: DWI, Failure to Keep Right and Obstruction to Passage of Other Vehicles. She was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released to a sober adult.

    REAR END ACCIDENT ENDS WITH DWI ARREST

    On 11/09/2019 at approximately 3 am, patrols responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lafayette Road and Rt. 15. A grey Hyundai was stopped at a red light and was struck from behind by a red Honda Minivan. Neither driver was injured and no first aid was administered. P.O. Chris Favaro spoke with both drivers and determined that the driver of the red minivan had been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to being involved in the accident. The driver of the grey Hyundai was released from the scene and the driver, 27 yr old Kevin Farber of Lafayette, NJ, of the red minivan was asked to perform Field Sobriety tests. Upon completion of the tests, Mr. Farber was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Sparta Police HQ for processing. Upon completion of breath testing, Mr. Farber was issued summonses for: DWI, Careless Driving and Failure to Observe a Traffic Signal. He was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released to a sober adult.
