Branchville man arrested for DWI
On Sept. 19 at approximately 1 a.m., Sergeant Fraser of the Sparta Township Police Department stopped a Chevrolet Malibu on Glen Road for failing to maintain its lane. Officer Phil Longo arrived on the scene and conducted a DWI investigation. The driver, Kevin Woodhead, 25, of Branchville was given field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DWI upon completion of the tests. He was transported to Sparta Police headquarters for processing. After the administration of breath testing, Woodhead was charged with DWI, Careless Driving, Failure to Keep Right, and Operation of an Unsafe Vehicle. He was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released to his mother.
Vehicle crash results in DWI arrest
On Sept. 16 at approximately 9:30 p.m., patrols from the Sparta Township Police Department responded to Demarest Road for a report of a one-car accident. Officer Thomas Herd arrived on the scene and observed a red Toyota Corolla off the road, approximately 20 feet into the woods. He made contact with the driver, Danielle Enman, 33, of Lafayette, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Enman was disoriented and did not know how her vehicle ended up in the woods. Officer Herd observed empty and full bottles of beer in the interior of the vehicle and was able to determine that Enman had been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to her accident. Sparta First Aid and the Sparta Fire Department arrived on scene and helped clear away brush to get Enman out of her vehicle and into the ambulance for transport to Newton Hospital for evaluation. Officer Herd charged her with DWI, Careless Driving, and Failure to Keep Right. She was advised of a mandatory court appearance and remained at the hospital.
A couple of drinks ends in DWI arrest
On Sept. 17 at approximately 8:15 p.m., patrols were alerted to an erratic driver travelling north on Route 15. Officer Matt Pletcher located the vehicle, a white Volkswagen Jetta, and stopped it on Route 517. Officers Herd and Porter assisted in the stop. Officer Pletcher asked the driver, Tracy Vayda, 31, of Riverdale, N.J., if she had been drinking alcohol, and she stated that she had a couple of drinks. After the completion of field sobriety tests, Vayda was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Sparta Police headquarters for processing. Upon completion of breath testing, she was charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain a Lane. Vayda was advised of a mandatory court appearance and released to a sober adult.
