Krogh's Turkey Trot registration now open

SPORTS. It's time to register for the annual Krogh's Turkey Trot 5K, which raises funds for the Sparta Education Foundation.

Registration is now open for the Turkey Trot taking place on Thursday, Nov. 28.

The Sparta Education Foundation’s (SEF) Thanksgiving morning fundraiser is the 13th Annual Krogh’s Turkey Trot 5K, one of Sparta’s bestloved events which has become “The Tradition Before The Tradition.” It’s a memorable way to celebrate the holiday with the community.

Register at kroghsturkeytrot.com or download the form and mail it to the Sparta Education Foundation, PMB 126, 270 Sparta Avenue #104, Sparta, NJ 07871. All mailin registrations must be postmarked by Saturday, Nov. 23. Additionally, on select Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. at Krogh’s Restaurant and Brew Pub, the SEF will offer a $5 discount on registrations (5K registrations only, no Fun Run discounts). Thursday night dates include October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and Nov. 7. Krogh’s is also offering registrants a 10% discount on dinners when they sign up on a Thursday night.

The packet pickup and free pasta party, by Villa Capri II, for registered participants is Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lake Mohawk Country Club. Packets can also be picked up the morning of the race beginning at 7 a.m. in the Lake Mohawk Country Club Ballroom. There will be a Food Drive collecting nonperishable items for a local community food bank on the morning of the race.

The OneMile Fun Run starts at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8:45 a.m. Both routes kick off in White Deer Plaza and follow East Shore Trail alongside Lake Mohawk. Each registered participant will receive a goody bag while supplies last.
