Pope John pushes past Delbarton in boys' varsity basketball playoffs

SPARTA — Pope John XXIII Regional High School defeated Delbarton School, Morristown, in boys’ varsity basketball on Wednesday, March 2.

The final score was 75-69. The NJSIAA Tournament, First Round, North Jersey, Non-Public A-Boys contest took place at Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta.

Aaron Clarke scored a game-high 27 points for Pope John. Teammates Sime Lisica scored twelve points, Samba Diallo scored eleven points, and Ray Montilus contributed nine points for Pope John.

Stephen Clapp scored a team-high 25 points for Delbarton. Teammates Dan Cimaglia scored twenty two points, and Anthony Kearns scored ten points respectively.

Seventh-seeded Pope John advanced to the quarterfinal, which took place on Friday, March 4.

Pope John lost to second-seeded Seton Hall Prep by the score of 74-63, ending their season.
