Veritas softball team takes first place at MCAA tournament

Veritas Christian Academy girls’ softball team placed first at the Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA) Tournament held Tuesday, May 21 in East Hanover. The Lady Lions defeated Hackensack Christian 23-1 (game called in the 4th inning) before clinching the title against Abundant Life Christian School of Whippany with a score of 11-8.

Maxine Weber,a junior at Veritas and the catcher for the team was named tournament MVP.

The Lady Lions also placed second in the Timothy Christian School Invitational Tournament in Piscataway held on May 18-19, first defeating Cumberland Christian then losing to Timothy Christian in the final round.

Veritas’ Maxine Weber was named to the all-tournament team along with teammate Kirsten Pedersen, a freshman. Veritas boys’ baseball team also placed second at that same tournament, with junior Stephen Brinkerhoff and sophomore Matt Flemm both being named to the all-tournament team.
