After I graduated from the Naval Academy, I served as a helicopter pilot in the Navy for almost 10 years. I served with wonderful men and women who made many, many sacrifices to keep our country safe.Veterans Day is an opportunity to honor our nation’s heroes, and is a reminder of our obligation to keep faith with our veterans after their service to our country.
As Vice Chair of the Servicewomen and Women Veterans Caucus, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and a member of the bipartisan For Country Caucus, I take this obligation to our veterans seriously.
This week, I want to highlight some of the bills I've worked to pass in the House, and others that I'm urging my colleagues to support and bring to the floor for a vote. And as your representative in Congress, I am committed to improving the lives of our 400,000 veterans in New Jersey, including the nearly 28,000 veterans in our congressional district.
I was honored to commemorate Veterans Day in Wayne, and thank you to all the communities across NJ-11 honoring this important day with their own ceremonies.
U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill
