Leaning on each other

I wish I could get an open letter to the republican legislators in Washington and quote for them Ben Franklin who, upon the signing of the Declaration of Independence said, "Gentlemen, We must all hang together, or most assuredly, we shall all hang separately "

Trump has been known to attack and pick off any individual who voices opposition to him. But what if the Senate "hung together" like Ben said, and voted in enough of a bloc to convict him? Their cover would be that even trump could not attack all of them them singularly and, at home, facing the wrath of the shallow trumpists, they could get cover by pointing out they were not the only ones to justify voting against their hero. Most Senators must understand what needs to be done. If it takes leaning on each other to stiffen their spines and bolster their self respect I'm OK with that..

The founders stand tall in history. History will likewise judge this senate at their time that "try men's souls", And, sooner or later, they will also be forced to judge themselves. History, and their mirrors, won't lie.
