The Center for Prevention and Counseling will be hosting a 6 week “Wellness Initiative for Senior Education” Summer Social Series. Encouraging a celebration of the aging process, WISE is a wellness program for ages 55 and up at the Sussex-Wantage Library beginning Monday, May 6, from 9-11 a.m. These Wellness Initiative for Senior Education programs (WISE) are six-week programs that celebrate healthy aging with an emphasis on educating older adults on a variety of pertinent topics. Workshop topics include alternative approaches to pain management, safe use of medications, how to communicate with your healthcare provider and how to make healthy lifestyle choices. WISE empowers participants to become more aware of how they can take control of their health and wellness. WISE also provides participants with an opportunity to socialize with others and connect with services available to them in their community. A complimentary breakfast will be provided at each session along with a paid hot lunch. A gift card incentive is provided to those participants that attend 5 out of 6 WISE sessions. Funding for this program is provided by the Sussex-Wantage Municipal Alliance and the New Jersey Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
