A bit of Hollywood comes to the high school

SPARTA — Sparta High School hosted three special guests from the entertainment field Friday, May 4. They were director and producer Frank Lisi and actors Valerie Bauer and Artie Pasquale. The trio spoke about their experiences in the film industry. The event was part of the Film Series Studies taught by English teacher John Hier.

Students from the school's drama class, English class and creative writing class attended the presentation. Film clips of the movie "Red Corvette" and other films were shown. There was a question and answer period towards the end of the presentation.

Frank Lisi is a resident of Fair Lawn. He is a character actor who has played a variety of mobsters. He has appeared in The Sopranos series and other television shows and films. He is also a director and producer. He makes films and acts on the side because he is a full-time employee at Rutgers University (Newark campus). He has worked at Rutgers for over 20 years as an engineer.

Artie Pasquale played the character Burt Gervasi on The Sopranos television series. Pasquale is a character actor who has appeared in many movie and television roles. His most recent role is in the movie The Red Corvette.

Valerie Bauer is originally from Wisconsin. Bauer is a model, actress and beauty pageant veteran. She currently resides on the east coast dividing her time between New York and Philly. Her most recent film role is in the movie "The Red Corvette."
