Market opens Sunday for its 17th season Warwick, N.Y. — For 17 years neighbors, visitors, farmers and chefs have been gathering in the South Street Parking lot in the Village of Warwick on Sundays. The Warwick Valley Farmers’ Market provides a space for the community to connect, learn and shop for the freshest local produce and freshly prepared foods from farm kitchens. The 2011 season of the farmers’ market will have more offerings than ever before, with 32 vendors at the height of the season. This year, consumers can shop with greater ease by signing out a cart to help them gather all the goods they wish to purchase. Consumers can then leave their cart at the Pick-Up Station on Bank Street, shop or dine on Main Street, then pick up their items when they are finished. Among its vendors will be those selling fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, wines, baked goods, jams and jellies, honey, maple syrup, soap, flowers and plants. Gift certificates valid for the entire 2011 season are available at the Market Manager’s table. It’s a gift that’s green, healthy and supports local farms and businesses. This Sunday, May 15, opens the 17th season of the Warwick Valley Farmers’ Market. The market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. rain or shine. Throughout the season, come for events which will include music, chef demonstrations, gardening, agricultural and nutritional information discussions, and more. On opening day, come between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to hear music by the Gravikord Duo. Then stay to participate in Winslow Therapeutic Center’s Annual Duck Derby.
