Sparta — Area residents recently crowded around five tables at Sparta’s Panera Bread to convene the second session of Sussex County’s chapter of Amnesty International USA (AIUSA). The group examined numerous human rights issues and set a focus for their upcoming activities. This month, the group said will begin organizing events and actions to raise awareness and help combat poverty and homelessness in Sussex County, abuses against women and violations of due process. Officials said for these events to be successful and effective, volunteers are needed and are encouraging potential volunteers to attend its next session on Wednesday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sparta Methodist Church.
