Auditions for Moss Hart play
Hackettstown The Centenary Stage Company, a professional Equity theatre in residence on the campus of Centenary College, will hold open-call auditions for the first play of the 2011-12 season, “Light up the Sky” by Moss Hart. Auditions will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Kutz Theater of the David and Carol Lackland Center at 715 Grand Ave., Hackettstown. Rehearsals will begin Sept. 12, and the production will run from Sept. 29 to Oct. 16. Centenary Stage operates under an Equity SPT contract, which allows for both non-Equity and Equity performers. Sides will be available on site. The following roles will be cast: Miss Lowell, a 20-something female secretary. Description: pert and professional. Carleton Fitzgerald, a 40-something male director. Descripton: A grand man of the theatre, every action filled with drama. Owen Turner, a man in his 40's, writer: Description: A jaded playwright who has seen it all before. Stella Livingston, woman in her 50's to 60's. Description: Mother of the star; a “handsome, old hoodlum.” Peter Sloan, man in his 20's. Description: Young, naïve writer whose first play is opening. Sidney Black, man in his 40's to 50's. Description: Producer, a short man who is a dynamo, a “one purpose guy,” always about money. Irene Livingston, a woman in her 30’s. Description: Star; “exudes the ineffable essence of a great star of the stage.” Tyler Rayburn, a man in his 30’s +. Description: Married to Irene; comes from a wealthy family; a bit of a bore.
