Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley and Wild West City join together to collect backpacks in the community Byram — The Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley is co-hosting a backpack collection on Aug. 7. The elementary school backpack collection will take place at Wild West City in Byram. All Hopatcong, Netcong, Stanhope and Byram community members are encouraged to support this cause. These activities are being held as part of The Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley’s Backpack for Kids project. Wild West City is donating their park as a way for the local community to give back to those in need. Admission will be free for those children who donate a backpack and will include three ride tickets. “We are proud to join our fellow community members,” said Donna Griff, Lenape Kiwanis Club president. “The energy, commitment and camaraderie surrounding this single day make the experience of service even more gratifying for our members as they make an immediate, measurable impact on the local community.” The club will be filling the backpacks with school supplies for distribution in the elementary schools in Hopatcong, Netcong, Stanhope and Byram. For more information on the Kiwanis Club of Lenape Valley’s service activities, please contact Donna Griff at lenapekiwanis@optonline.net. For those who are unable to attend the event on Aug. 7, drop boxes are located at Wild West City, Sovereign Bank in Hopatcong and Byram and Lakeland Bank in Stanhope and Byram. Donations will be collected through Aug. 15.
