LAFAYETTE — Lafayette Village will be turned into a beach Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21 from the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Visitors should not be surprised if they literally “run into” a beach ball. That's because 7-foot beach balls will be on the grounds for photos and shoppers can push them around for maximum effect. What else? Pottery Pizazz of Newton will have seashells and other beach related items for pottery painting sessions in the Village Hall from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. both days. Each item will cost $5, which includes firing. Paints and paintbrushes will be supplied and adult supervision required for the small folks. A hula hoop contest will be held at the top of every hour starting at noon each day. Judges will count the most hoop-loops around the waist or neck of participants. Winners will be selected from the top performers and prizes include a $50 gift certificate from Fuzzy Nation. Best Foot Forward will hold doggy Frisbee games. See what Laura and Tara’s trick dogs really think about beach balls and sprinklers. These events will begin at noon and occur both days in the dog run near Izod.
