Celebrating 40 years

Wantage — It was Christmas in July at the DAR Van Bunschooten museum in Wantage, where the annual three-day event this past weekend commemorated the 40th anniversary of the museum. And, yes, it was hot. Everyone dressed up in period costume to show off the museum, but says Wendy Wyman, some of the women “gave up their petticoats” to avoid wearing too many layers. Children who dressed in period costume are members of the CAR, Children of the Revolution; their elders are members of DAR, Daughters of the Revolution. Along with them, members of the re-enacting organization the Frontier Guard, and the 27th Regiment, Civil War re-enactors, were on site.
