Civil War reenactment scheduled at Friends of Long Pond

    Hewitt — Friends of Long Pond Ironworks, Inc. is sponsoring A Civil War History Weekend and Candle Lantern Tours at Long Pond Ironworks in Hewitt the weekend of Oct. 1-2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reenactors of the 6th New Hampshire Volunteers will give ongoing demonstrations of camp life, military demonstrations, and talks on various aspects of the war and soldiering. A donation of $5 per adult and $1 per child is requested. On Saturday evening, Oct. 1, the Friends of Long Pond Ironworks and the 6th New Hampshire Volunteers will offer guided candlelight tours through the Historic District. Each tour will culminate with musical entertainment at the furnaces by the musicians of the 6th New Hampshire Volunteers. A family tour including children over 12 will be given at 7:30 p.m., and an adults only tour will be given at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child. Reservations are required.
