College to present poetry reading

    Newton — Poet Jack Wiler will present his work as part of The Idiom Reading Series at Sussex County Community College. The poetry reading is sponsored by the Betty June Silconas Poetry Center at SCCC and will take place on Friday, Dec. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. The Betty June Silconas Poetry Center is located in the Library at Sussex County Community College. Jack Wiler’s has long been a strong voice on the New York/New Jersey poetry scene. Best known for his dynamic, take-no-prisoners performances, he has also widely published his poems. His second book, “Fun Being Me,” has just been published by CavanKerry Press. It follows “I Have No Clue” (1996) from Long Shot and numerous magazine publications. His poems have also been anthologized in Aloud, the anthology of the Nuyorican Poets Café, the Outlaw Poetry Anthology from Thundermouth Press, Bum Rush the Page, and others. Over the years, Jack Wiler has been a manager for a blood distribution center, has managed a senior citizen’s lunch program, and sold weight lifting supplies. For most of his life he has worked in pest control, presently with Acme Exterminating in New York City. The poetry reading is free and open to the public.
