Heartsaver pediatric CPR course Sparta -This one-day “Heartsaver” pediatric course is for individuals expected to provide CPR in the work place. The course will focus on one-rescuer CPR and foreign body airway obstruction (choking), and also includes the use of barrier devices. Healthcare provider BLS course Newton-This two-day course is for healthcare providers whose jobs place them in the position of having to perform CPR. The Healthcare Provider CPR Course will include adult one- and two-rescuer adult CPR, pediatric CPR, relief of foreign body airway obstruction (choking) and use of barrier devices. The two-day class will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 19, at Newton Memorial Hospital, 175 High St., Newton. Fee, $60; pre-registration required. The course, for providers with a current card, will include adult one- and two-rescuer CPR, pediatric CPR, rescue breathing, barrier devices, bag mask ventilation and automated external defibrillators (AED). The class will run from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Newton Memorial Hospital, 175 High St. Fee, $50; pre-registration required. For information, call 973-579-8340. ‘Man to Man’ support group Sparta - The “Man to Man” support group, for men diagnosed with prostate cancer or who want to learn more about the diagnosis, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center, 89 Sparta Ave. “Man to Man” is a prostate educational and support program that offers community-based group discussion and support to men with prostate cancer. Members of the Prostate Cancer Task Force will be in attendance and will give a survivor’s perspective. Questions and answers will be included in the session from the task force.
