Highland Lakes — A community yard sale to benefit the Highland Lakes Goodwill Fund will take place Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the HL Clubhouse at the intersection of Breakneck Road and Lakeside Drive West. The “rain or shine” event is open to members of Highland Lakes and the general public. “This year as we have advertised the event, we’ve received a tremendous response from people who want to donate items that we will sell and from others who have rented their own table and will be selling their own wares,” said Grace Lewin, one of the organizers. Organizers said items of all descriptions will be “priced to sell in the spirit of community fellowship.” Some product vendors have rented tables. Local professional artists and photographers have contributed their work which will be auctioned off for the benefit and professional hand-made pottery has also been donated. Donations will be accepted tomorrow, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Highland Lakes Clubhouse. All items must be in good condition. Televisions, computers and clothing this year will not be accepted and the committee reserves the right to reject any items that do not meet set standards. Refreshments will be sold throughout the day. Organizers added all proceeds will benefit families of Highland Lakes who have experienced significant financial hardship due to a catastrophic event.
